Sorrento

Gaining Speed

Heading further north, to Sorrento, you can feel the pace picking up again. There are more cars, more people, more bustle. After an orientation walk and a gelato demonstration, we hit the rails on the Circumvesuviana to see the ruins at Pompeii - a lifetime dream fulfilled.

On our free-day, we took the boat to Capri. Choosing to avoid the crowds at the Blue Grotto, we headed into the sky with a ride on the seggiovia to the top of Mt. Solaro. You cannot imagine the silence on the way up and the views from the top. The Phoenician Steps on the way back to the port are another story - all 921 of them.

We ended our time in Sorrento at a family home for a meal that I will never forget. Grazie mille!
